About Me

Joci Scott is a multi-hyphenate actor, singer and dancer born and raised in Akron, Ohio. Joci spent the better part of her childhood onstage, and this passion continued into her college years at Ohio State University.  She became paralyzed at 20 years old by sustaining a T12 spinal cord injury when her family survived a plane crash. Joci thought her performing career was over because of this, but refused to give up. She got back onstage just three months after her accident.  Joci quickly realized the lack of disability representation that exists in her favorite media, and she became determined to do something about it, through advocacy and pursuing her dream of being an actor herself.

Joci loves playing characters that have rich, complex lives, and just happen to be disabled. Her performance as Ariel in “SMASH OR PASS” received a “Best Actor” nomination in the 2023 Easterseals Disability Film Challenge, and the film screened at the Slamdance Film Festival. Most recently, she produced and starred in the EDFC finalist film "THE INVALIDS," directed by Chrissy Marshall. Having found a new passion for writing, Joci co-wrote, produced, and starred in "TAILORED TO YOU", a rom-com proof-of-concept short that she is currently developing as a feature film.  Coming up next, Joci is slated to star as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl in Action Through Action's upcoming short film "BATGIRL'S LAST LAUGH."  When she's not acting, she can be found content creating or dancing on the Rollettes Los Angeles wheelchair dance team, which she has been part of for four years. She now lives in Los Angeles with her partner Alex and their two sassy Siamese kitties.
